Mr. Graves has more than 17 years of experience in the construction industry, with the last two years in project management and inspection of the City of Sacramento ’s Capital Improvement Project seal coat program and the Encroachment Permit Department. As a construction consultant for the City, Mr. Graves managed and oversaw the completion of multiple seal coat projects and assisted in the completion and inspection of several encroachment permit projects. His duties include completing daily field diaries, reviewing submittals, pay estimates and change orders, and coordinating construction activities with the public to ensure contract completion in a timely manner and public safety. Previously Mr. Graves was a project manager and field inspector for five years with two fiber optic companies where he managed the installation of numerous complex fiber optic systems in the Sacramento area. His duties included writing daily reports of progress, men and equipment, project and agency coordination, permit application and adherence, plan and specification interpretation, project safety, as-built drawings, and various other tasks. He worked on underground installation, including directional boring, trenching and pavement restoration, as well as aerial installations. Prior to that he worked with the Nevada County Department of Transportation Bridge and Roadway Maintenance Crew as a heavy equipment operator and field hand. He performed a variety of tasks, including operating loaders, brush hogs, rollers, backhoes, compactors, chippers, forklifts and graders. He assisted in maintaining hundreds of miles of roadways, which included extensive traffic control, asphalt paving, excavation and repair of failed roadway sections, pavement restoration, crack sealing, striping, replacing damaged or old culvert pipe, building gabions around large culvert pipes for erosion control, and various other maintenance related work. He was also involved in the maintenance of more than 20 bridges, which included removing and replacing wood support members, guardrail, concrete bridge deck sections, cleaning expansion joints, replacing joint seals, repairing bridge footings, and various other maintenance tasks. Mr. Graves is very familiar with standard industry construction practices. He is intelligent and motivated and is always eager to take on new challenges. He has an excellent work ethic and he works well with other people. His common sense approach to issues and his knowledge of the trades make him an excellent field inspector on any type of civil construction project.
