Mike Van Over
Regional Manager / Construction Manager
Mr. Van Over has over three years of construction management experience on diverse projects, in addition to his more than eight year as the sole proprietor of his own construction company. He has been the sole inspector/administrator on a half dozen two multi-million dollar projects. These projects have included mass grading, heavy rail, bridge construction, drainage systems, buildings, retaining walls, utility relocation and protection, and traffic diversions. Mr. Van Over is well versed in many aspects of contract administration and inspection, and is very familiar with many standard industry practices. He is very adept at reading and interpreting construction plans, and he is very familiar with local building code requirements and larger public works requirements, such as the Caltrans Standard Plans and Specifications. Mr. Van Over has excellent organizational and planning skills, having coordinated with multiple governmental agencies, contractors, designers, utility companies and the public. He is extremely intelligent and forthright, and has an excellent work ethic. His ability to recognize potential issues before they become problems and quickly and efficiently address and resolve them in a straightforward and professional manner makes him an extremely competent construction manager, and qualified to manage multiple tasks or projects at the same time. He prides himself on solving problems. His ability to thoroughly document and administer the project in accordance with client’s requirements is equally as important. He is eager to take on new challenges and has proven that he can excel in this type of an environment. He is well spoken, confident, and has a natural ability to quickly form positive and productive working relationships.
Selected Experience
SUNSET AVENUE GRADE SEPERATION (UPRR) - Los Angeles, CA - Construction Value: $50 million - The Sunset Grade Separation Project consisted of a 6700’ train diversion that included two flyovers and one at grade crossing. This both increased railroad efficiency, by the addition of a second mainline, and alleviated traffic congestion on the surface streets, while maintaining industry track service for UPRR customers.
LOS ANGELES TRANSIT CENTER (UPRR) - Los Angeles, CA - Construction Value: $2.8 million – The project involved excavating and removal of contaminated and hazardous material, installation of a methane gas boot for remediation, and constructing an 8,000 square foot single story, pre-fabricated metal, multi-use administration building, which included offices, delivery station, warehouse, bathrooms, kitchen, locker room, communications room, and conference room.
CARSON YARD EXPANSION (UPRR) – Los Angeles, CA – Construction Value: $1.9 million - Mr. Van Over was the Construction Manager for the entire scope of the project, which included removal of a scale house, subexcavation of 3,000 cubic yards of unsuitable material, and placement of 7,600 cubic yards of subballast for construction of six new tracks for approximately 1,000 feet to expand the yard and increase train volume. Mr. Van Over worked with the City of Carson for the street improvement portion of the contract which involved the relocation of several utilities, the removal of a service spur which extended across a state highway, and the coordination of a suitable traffic diversion.
