Project Overview
SAI was contracted with the City of Sacramento Office of Innovation and Economic Development to provide construction management services. The audio-visual systems, electrical systems, and acoustics were not to modern standards prior to the project. The scope of work included new ceiling-rigged speaker arrays, mixing boards, dimming equipment, lighting equipment, acoustic paneling, acoustic curtains, HVAC upgrades, a new HVAC control systems, replacement of stage rigging, replacement of the stage floor, electrical upgrades, refurbishment of existing upholstered chairs, refurbishment of historic wooden chairs, portable floor chairs, dressing room renovations, infrastructure for speaker and video broadcast displays at dozens of locations in the facilities, new projection room equipment, a temporary truck loading dock, temporary restrooms, a sewer connection, sidewalk, curb and gutter, and asphalt placement. Due to the complexity of renovating a historic building, the City chose to use an alternative procurement method, and procured the prime contractor using a CMGC contract with a GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price). The work also involved coordination with SMUD, City IT and the City Fire Department.
