Project Overview

As the primary subconsultant on this project, Salaber Associates, Inc. (SAI) provided an Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) / Office Engineer (OE) and a Senior Construction Inspector for the work. This project consisted of two federally funded contracts, which included constructing approximately three miles of Leisure Town Road from a two-lane country road to a four-lane divided arterial with landscaped center medians and a linear parkway. Work included a potable and non-potable water system, a new storm drain system, street lighting, four signalized intersections, replacing a signalized intersection with a round-about, installing a precast box culvert at Old Alamo Creek and demolishing and replacing the bridge at New Alamo Creek with a reinforced concrete two-span bridge and associated approach work. The bridge work was done in an environmentally sensitive area that required an aqua dam, and had short work windows in order to comply with a Fish and Game Streambed Alteration Agreement, an Army Corps 404 Permit, and a State Water Board 401 Permit. The original contract was 500 working days, however, the project was accelerated to be completed in a single construction season.
