Resident Engineer

RESIDENT ENGINEER

Your duties include:

  • Act as the Owner’s Representative for road or bridge projects ranging from $1M to $30M.
  • Keep the project moving.
  • Ensure the project complies with Local Assistance Procedures Manual (LAPM), relevant Caltrans, and relevant agency requirements.
  • Manage a construction management team consisting of assistant resident engineers, inspectors, office engineers, document control specialists, and various specialized subconsultants (materials testing, biological, etc…)
  • Negotiate change orders that are fair to the agency and contractor.
  • Self-perform or manage team that reviews/processes RFIs, Submittals, WSWDs, Change Orders, Time Impact Analysis, quantity sheets, progress payments, DBE, labor compliance, and start-up / close-out documents (all to LAPM requirements).
  • Inspire a partnering mindset within your team.
  • Troubleshoot field issues and report findings and recommendations to client
  • Ensure that traffic control, pedestrian access, and site conditions are safe.
  • Work diplomatically with a diverse group of stakeholders including government employees, contractors, business owners, residents, political leaders, etc…
  • Work at a variety of project sites and offices in our focus areas (greater Sacramento and surrounding counties).
  • Assist with marketing, proposal-writing, and interview efforts when necessary.
Construction Inspector

CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR

Your duties include:

  • Be the eyes and ears for our client on the construction site
  • Ensure projects are built per plans and specifications
  • Strive to achieve project success
  • Prepare daily diaries using cloud-based platforms or Microsoft Office
  • Measure quantities of work performed and prepare quantity calculation sheets
  • Troubleshoot field issues and report findings and recommendations to engineer or client
  • Verify that traffic control, pedestrian access, and site conditions are safe
  • Work hand-in-hand with the engineer or client
  • Coordinate and schedule subconsultants including materials testing, environmental, etc…
  • Possibly manage other inspectors
  • Work at a variety of project sites and offices in our focus areas (greater Sacramento and surrounding counties).
